2 year old smelling of ketones

My son is nearly 2 and I often smell ketones on his breath - is this a cause for concern. I think it is because he wont drink much and wondered if it happens to others.
The smell is like pear drops/ acetone.

isn;t that smell a sign of diabetics?? I would get him tested.

No other symptoms of diabetes he isn't drinking nor weeing lots and is not unwell.

does he eat enough carbs?

I don't think he eats enough full stop - I'm not sure. He definately doesn't drink enough though.

My ds is like this -he was tested for diabetes and was clear, so I tend to use it as a reminder to get him to dink more, and a warning thta he's a bit under the weather. A slight fever will do it too.
