Undigested food from 9 hours ago in projectile vomit.

DS2 did a huge projectile vomit this evening after complaining of being hot (took temp and it's normal). The thing that concerned me is there were large chunks of cherry in it, which he'd eaten 9 hours before. How can this be the case? Surely they should have been digested by then? I don't understand this puking malarkey.

I've had this.

IF stomach was already being a bit dodgy maybe it was taking longer to digest the food?

Maybe cherries aren't easily digested, like sweetcorn.

I'm pretty sure it takes 48hrs to fully digest meals (although that includes much time in the intestines).

Poor thing didn't even seem ill till I put dinner on the table and he projectiled all over the dining room floor and the antique toy box. He went to bed at 6.30pm, which is most unlike him

Blockage? Now that would make sense. he has done this before, usually puking in the night with most of his dinner from hours earlier in it.

DD did similar a while back - threw up the chinese meal she'd had 20-odd hours before. I assumed her stomach wasn't working due to the bug she had (can happen with migraine I understand, I guess it happens with other ailments). It was a one-off anyway, she usually has very fast digestion.

DS2 once threw up a (mild, homemade) Indian in his cot.
I never had this problem with DS1.

I had a vile stomach bug last week and in the morning threw up dinner from 12 hours previously - utterly undigested (and vile). I think that if you have a stomach bug it can sometimes affect digestion. I hope your ds is better soon.
