Diuretics and holidays

I'm taking a diuretic as well as other tablets to manage my high bp, do you think it's ok not to take the water pill for a few days while on a Med holiday? It will be hot and I don't think I should be taking it. I don't suffer from water retention or swelling of the legs, just a second tablet to go with my bp one.

Maybe I'm being stupid but if you don't suffer from water retention then why are you taking a diuretic? How does that lower your BP? Either way, I wouldn't miss any long term medication without speaking to someone first, at least a pharmacist but preferably your gp.

You need to ask your GP for advice specific to you.

There are many people for whom this would be fine and positively advisable.

On the other hand I used to work in a holiday resort and a common problem was people who had stopped their water tablets because they were on holiday and ended up in hospital very very ill.

So you need personal advice from your doctor.

Please don’t stop these pills.
People who do and end up in hospital with sometimes life threatening illness drive the medical profession mad.
Speak to your GP rather than ask a load of strangers on the internet about your prescribed for a reason vital medications.
Your GP will have blood results, knowledge of your kidney function, heart function, blood pressure and will inform you of the needless risks of deciding to stop them.

I will ask the GP before I go, was just wondering what people usually do in the situation as I know when it's hot it's actually dangerous to take water pills to get rid of fluids. Thanks for your advice.
