Work in a school - student with chicken pox returned

I work in a school and I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant. I do intervention work with students special need or learning challenges. I work in a class on 22 and there is myself and another adult who work together. Last week a girl was absent all week and she returned today with scabs. She’s been absent with chicken pox but now back to school. I’m particularly annoyed I wasn’t told about the chicken pox to begin with as they did know about it. However, today I avoided her and didn’t work with her but she is still in the classroom. I’ve spoken to the midwife who said to see the gp on Wednesday and they will decide if I need an injection. I’ve never had chickenpox as a child and I’m terrified for my baby.

What should I do in the meantime? I’ll speak to the gp on Wednesday and see what happens. But I have work tomorrow in the morning. Should I again avoid being around her? Should I ask to move to another class? Not sure what to do. Disappointed the school didn’t do more to inform me on the situation. Please help!

She won’t be contagious anymore but some others may be as it’s contagious 2 days before the spots appear. I don’t think keeping away from the child who had it will be of any benefit.

It won't be contagious now.

It is so rare that someone didn't have it as a child (or isn't vaccinated) that unfortunately it probably didn't cross anyone's mind, even if they had known at the infectious stage

If her spots have scabbed then she isn't contagious any more
