Bartholin's Cyst?

Rockhopper81 · 26/03/2019 20:33

I found a just-slightly-larger-than-a-pea sized lump not too far from the entrance of my vagina earlier today - it's not causing me any pain being there, but it is very tender to touch. At the risk of sounding daft, I can 'hold' it between my thumb and finger.

After doing some research online (I know, I know), it seems to fit the description of a Bartholin's Cyst, except for two things:

-The descriptions I've read seem to indicate there would be some vulval swelling/indication, and there is none; but then this could be because it's not very big at the moment?

-It feels further in than some of the symptom lists indicate, but I don't know whether that's just my perception?

I've read that a hot bath or hot compress can help, but I'm not really in any 'pain' with it, so not sure whether I need to do anything at the moment?

I know I should really see my GP, but obviously that's not possible tonight, and I was just looking for some information from others who have had similar.

Thanks in advance for any information/advice.

Hi,

I have suffered from this twice. First time it turned into an abscess within a week even after taking antibiotics and I had to have surgery. Symptoms were similar to yours plus I felt a kind of thickening between my perennium and vagina. Hot baths and sitz baths didnt help at all.

Second time I knew the signs immediately and went straight to my Gp for antibiotics. Its common for it to reoccur. Best get to the Drs tomorrow. HTH.
