Difficulty swallowing , what could it be ?

As title says, I'm having difficulty swallowing every time I eat food. This has been happening for the last few days , I'm early twenties.

When I swallow it's as if it's ready to come up again, just on the cusp, and a very heavy feeling in my throat/upper chest. Very worried that this is a symptom of cancer. Any thoughts?

Will
Make a GP appt tomorrow, also been burping quite a bit recently which is out of character. Now when I try to swallow it down as it were, I get a sharp pain in my chest.

Sounds like acid reflux but see your Gp. If it is then they'll give you a proton pump inhibitor. I take one daily but there are certain foods that make mine much worse.

Yes l am older than you and with those symptoms it was acid reflux. This can be caused by stress but not necessarily. I found panicking over it made it worse. See your GP but meantime eat plain, nonspicy food. I take one tablet a day which alleviates the symptoms.

Reflux or hiatus hernia maybe.

Tonsil stones.

To be honest it doesn't feel like reflux. I'm finding it harder to breathe definitely. Almost like an anaphylactic reaction. Stress isn't a trigger, it's just been every time I have eaten any food. All stuff I have eaten before many times.

I definitely have breathing problems when my refluxis bad. My Gp thought I'd developed asthma.

I'm currently going through similar and went to the GP at the start of the week.

I had a really sharp chest pain that made me vomit, sent home from work and after 3 days the pain was still there, worse when eating, lots of burping and bringing up food sometimes.

They're testing for helicobacter and started me on omeprazole which is helping the pain/pressure in my chest and also the burping. I forgot to take one of them and the pain and stuck feeling came back so the pills are definitely helping.

I thought acid reflux or hiatus hernia and if helicobacter comes back negative it most likely is one of those but Ill be referred on for a scope if the meds don't help.

Also I have asthma but had issues with breathing, tight chest and having to take my inhaler a lot more too which all relates to acid reflux

tryingtohaveaniceweekend · 24/03/2019 16:05

We do have some omeprazole at home which I could try.

Enlarged thyroid

Id wait to see your GP before taking any medication. If they want to test for h.pylori you can't take the medication until after you've sent a sample.

I had this, no other acid symptoms but just food getting stuck. I eventually had a gastroscopy which found that my oesophagus was ridged. Hosp suspected something called esophinilic oesophagitis (autoimmune, allergic reaction bit like asthma reacts). They experimented with omeprazole treatment and it worked so been on that for a while now. They still dont know if is reflux or the oesophagitis but as long as i take the pills no more stuck food!

Just came to look if anyone has similar. I feel ulcerated from my mouth, down my throat and into chest when I swallow. Only the last few days. Also worried it’s cancer. We have some omeprazole at home so thought I’d try, as my logic head said it’s reflux.
What dose omeprazole does everyone take??
