Tamoxifen tiredness

I've been on Tamoxifen since September. I've realised that it's making me tired.

Blood tests this week showed I'm anemic and I'm on iron. I'm seeing the GP again next Friday.

In the meantime, is there anything I can do to improve my energy levels? DH is away for a week and I'm feeling guilty that I'm not fully "on" for our 5yo.

I'm on letrazol and have similar probs. I'm taking magnesium and zinc which helps. I find I have to pace myself so if I have a busy weekend that means I'm shattered at work. You have my sympathy. Sorry not to be of more use.

At least it's not just me Flyingarcher. Pacing myself it is then.

I think part of it is acknowledging that there might be after effects to the cancer crapness. I thought I would be completely back to normal once I finished radiotherapy as I was only stage 1.

Is actually the Tamoxifen making you tired or is it the anaemia? One of the most common symptoms of anaemia is also fatigue so it could be this rather than the Tamoxifen.

When I started taking Tamoxifen almost 3 years ago, I got the usual miserable side effects but they seem to have finally worn off (by year 2!) with the exception of thinning hair and hot flushes, and even the flushes don't seem to be as bad as they were (perhaps because I've also lost a lot of weight and do a lot more exercise these days).

I deffo don't have the same stamina now post cancer as before the crap started. I've got two more weeks of term and am unravelling. So so exhausted.

Hope you don't mind me following I've been on tamoxifen for about 6 weeks. Hot flushes daytime which are ok, night sweats doable. I am tired and nap most afternoons but I want to go back to work in a couple of weeks so I need to look at the tiredness. I was due to speak to a herbalist at my local Haven but I've got an appointment at the same time for my chicken filet/prothesis! So I'll have to cancel.
I have heard that acupuncture is supposed to be good and I did have some with chemo with was great so I may have a session and see how I feel.

MinnieMountain · 25/03/2019 06:14

I'm hoping it's the anemia Hundred but I'm in "chucking everything at it mode" as I hate having no energy.

Acupuncture is worth knowing about. How are you otherwise ranout? We were on the cancer support thread at the same time.
