anybody used a IUD after ectopic

just going over possible contraception for after the baby gets here (by all accounts the crossing your fingers method is not reliable )

i never trust myself with condoms as we tend to get uumm carried away and would prefer to not use any artifical hormones ie the pill or injections etc, i've tried the diaphragm thing and hated it and don't want to take the risk of natural family planning as two really is enough for the time being

the non hormonal iud looks ideal but they don't recommend one if you have had an ectopic (which I have) but if I said that I was happy to accept the risk would they let me have one?

has anybody else used one after ectopic?

Not had an ectopic myself, but even without I am paranoid!!! This month I was 7-10 days late (ranging from my shortest to longest period gap), horrible pain and a weird start to period - ended up testing to check I wasn't pregnant and it all going wrong.

That is just basic paranoia with no previous problems... not too sure I would risk it if I had a history.

I know what you mean though - this week I have realised how much I don't want another baby right now, but also that this is my final contraceptive option (hormones mess me up, don't trust condoms etc).

Sorry that doesn't help much though!!

thanks for replying, i have had the other tube checked out and it's fine so I don't think i'm anymore at risk than anybody else

can't believe with all the options out there, we still can't find anything we're happy with and like you I really can't get pregnant again!

Its just all hormone or a flimsy bit of rubber isn't it? I need something that sort of temporarily ties my tubes, but not for good!
