My lower back is sore

I woke Tuesday morning and my back was sore. I went to work as usual but unfortunately it easy night time by the time I was free and home and able to take some medicine (ibuprofen).

My was the same on Wednesday. It just feels heavy and weak. Feels as if someone took.a hammer to it.

My back is pretty much the same yesterday and today.

Yesterday I began to experience other things. Basically severe PM's symptoms - tummy cramps, living me sitting on the toilet. Tummy cramps seems to be aggravated with food, milk, water, tea - just any consumption. I'm the same again today.

About two years ago I felt similar, sore lower back, tummy cramps where I can't go far without being doubled over in pain. The pattern back then was once a month about two weeks prior to the onset of a period. I put it down to ovulation.

According to my calendar dates, it would be in and around ovulation time.

My back was sore and my tummy was in bits all day. Any time I tried to have a bite to eat or a cup of tea, I was left with tummy cramps. At one stage, I was cribbled over in pain on the toilet. Thankfully theres no constipation or diarrhea. It's just tummy cramps.

I had some toast earlier and I tolerated that very well. It seems as if the cramps have eased some what. Hopefully I will be ok overnight.

I forgot, I woke early this morning needing a pee. Unfortunately one bathroom in the house and that was occupied and had to wait about 10 minutes. I was very sore waiting. Back ache and sore in the lower regions. I was sitting on a chair, breaking out in a sweat and I thought I was going to pass out.

could it be a UTI?

macblank · 23/03/2019 21:46

Could be kidney stones, or gall bladder.

Sometimes an infection has been known to give "back ache". If there is no reason (or no trauma) for back ache, then it's something else.

As you seem to be showing signs of gut rot as well as back aches, I suggest drs asap or WALK-IN center, and take a sample (🚽) if you can.. so long as the container is completely clean (if you have any sterilising spray/liquid use that) as you don't want anything to give a wrong/effect, the result.

Alternatively... Are you pregnant? My fiancée carried her child right on her spine, and had back ache all the way thtough, and cos it was so far back, she didn't show at all til late on, and cos she had her periods she didn't know til she went to drs thinking she was "ill".

I haven't a clue what this could be.

Backache isn't too bad today. There's definitely an improvement in my back. I didn't need to take any medicine today for the back.

I was having breakfast this morning (pancakes) and within seconds of taking a bite, I had stomach cramps. I had toast in the middle of the day. Pain didn't come in straight away. I was at the clothes line about 5 minutes after the toast, I then got stomach cramps. I was doubled over in pain outside. Only sitting down relieved it. At that stage, there was nothing else to do on the toilet and I was so sore.

I finally got to the pharmacy. I got a box of buscopan. They have definitely helped. I was able to have a meal without pain setting in straight away. There was a stomach cramp afterwards but it wasn't as bad. It was mild and brief and no need for toilet. Took two more tablets before bed there with cold water. There was another stomach cramp but it was brief.

I'm sick of it now. I will see how I am over tomorrow and if no improvement, I will make an appointment with the doctor on Monday morning.

(I did think of that - am I pregnant but don't know it. I was over 12 days late last October which was very unusual for me. Period came though and they have been coming monthly. I took a pregnancy test but it was negative ).

I slept well over night. The back ache has eased. The biggest issue right now is the stomach cramping, going on since Thursday. I got some stomach pains in the middle of the night. They felt like a tightening and pulling sensations. Thankfully it was enough to get me up or keep me awake.

I woke this morning with a fullness in the bladder and that was sore. I took two buscopan tablets and within minutes, I started cramping but it wasn't as sore or heavy as other days. I had breakfast about half an hour later. I was able to eat breakfast without being interrupted with cramps. The cramps came afterwards.

I went back to bed at 10.30 this morning. I slept for a while as well. I woke at about 2 and stayed in bed til 3.

I had no cramps during this time. There were some slight twinges but no cramps. I got up for some food at three. I had porridge and two slices of toast. I wasn't interrupted with cramps during eating. I made it to 25 minutes after eating before cramps set in.

Sounds a bit like kidney stones that pain is very bad. You should go to the dr as you gave had this several says.

RoseMartha · 24/03/2019 17:28

I mean days

SMJYellow · 24/03/2019 21:37

Thanks for your reply.

My understanding of kidney stones is that it's related to the bladder and urine. I think my issues is more bowel related. Friday morning I needed to pee and I had to wait and I was in pain then but the pain was in the tummy. There was some slight pain lower down.

I tolerated a piece of dark chocolate at about 8pm and a drink of water without much issues. Some slight twinges but that's it. I had scrambled eggs at 9 and I tolerated that.

I won't be eating again for the remainder of the night.

I will see how I am after breakfast tomorrow and will phone the doctors.

I was 6 days early with my period at the start of this month and that was a 22 day cycle. Very, very short for me. Tomorrow is cycle day 22 for me with this cycle. Maybe my period is coming early again this time around and all the tummy cramping is down to that. Haven't a clue. Or maybe it's a virus. A trip to the doctor will be in order if it continues because I'm shattered and starved.

I think you should get checked by the dr. Even if you just ask for a phone consultation.
