What has caused this sudden night time allergy?

Earlier this week I woke up with a blocked up nose and a dry mouth. Assumed I was getting a bit of a cold. Ok during the day. Wednesday morning a bit of an itchy eye as well. Thursday morning my eyes were itchy, red and had been weeping quite badly, one was all crusted together and I felt drained and bleurgh. Assumed I had picked up a bug and thanked my lucky stars I had not passed it to baby yet.

Symptoms seem a bit off for a cold and everything online suggested allergy symptoms. Took an antihistamine last night and symptoms all but vanished. What could have caused this sudden reaction to have started? I understand it is tree pollen season but we keep our windows closed at night as we are ground floor so wouldn't that lessen symptoms? I have changed my washing powder very recently but I am certain the bedding I am using this week came from the airing cupboard and was washed with the old stuff. I am very confused!

Could you be allergic to house dust mites. If you had possibly dusted the room or house, also pyjamas were they washed in new powder.

I had this last year but took me ages to work out the source and it was my pillows and quilt. DH had one that had feathers in and mine were actually quite old Blush as was my quilt. I suspect maybe dust mite.

I swapped them out for non-allergic pillows, quilt, protectors for pillows and mattress. Vacuumed all of the matress, spring cleaned the bedroom and it disappeared straight away.

It’s a shame it took 2 weeks to do this as I suffered during this time every single night!

Hope you feel better soon

If closing windows was enough to prevent tree allergies! Sadly hay fever can hit at any time.
