Ovarian cysts (dermoid)

I had surgey last summer to remove dermoid cysts from both ovaries. The pain never went away but the gynaes told me I had to wait 6 months before they would assess .

It's now been 6 months and I've been scanned - and yep, I've got another one.

Has anyone had this? I was told it was extremely unlikely that I would ever get another one so to have one within 6 months seems weirdly unlucky.

Plus I still have pain on both sides but the scan only showed one on my left ovary, and as with last time it's technically too small to be causing pain. I guess I'm wondering if it might have been something else all along.

Hi. I don't have experience of this, sorry. I'm having a large cyst removed next month and am interested in what you said about the pain. What sort of pain do you experience?. I was in a lot of pain on one side last night, so was awake for hours and hit the codeine. Also have pressure on my bladder and irritation when having to pee. Is this similar?. Will be glad to stop the tenderness and bloating. Did you get any improvement?

I had three big dermoids removed from my right ovary last year, and have another smaller one on my left, and like you was told it's almost unheard of to have so many! While waiting for surgery I was also told the one on the right wasn't big enough to cause much pain, until the surgeon started operating and found it was actually three and much bigger than the scan had shown.
