What is this rash?

Had this rash for about a week now (appeared suddenly last Tuesday) and it's not going anywhere. Over the weekend have developed more spots/blemishes over my arms, back and hand. Sore throat and sore ears and have been really tired/run down but feel ok otherwise, just very itchy! Not sure if I have spots all over my scalp but thats very itchy too.

Not changed diet or washing powders etc. Tried antihistamine which hasn't helped the itch either. Fed up! Waiting for a call back from the nurse to see if they can see me, has anyone seen a rash like this? Confused

Does your skin feel rough to touch? It could be scarlet fever.

selfesteemqueen · 22/03/2019 22:00

@Nogodsnomasters it feels ok just lumpy where the blotches are. Nurse has told me it's a viral thing that medicine won't help, just been 2 weeks of progressively more spots/feeling worse which is just awful.

Shingles

Nogodsnomasters · 22/03/2019 22:10

It could be shingles but that tends to stay in one area and not spread all over the body usually. Did she check your throat for pus?

selfesteemqueen · 22/03/2019 22:12

I thought shingles initially but it's spread all over my stomach, chest, back, neck and both arms/legs now. She said I have a swollen, red throat and took a swab of it to get checked. Took bloods to get checked too but seemed very unsure as to what it could be

Glad you got a swab done but it should have been a rapid strep test which usually only takes 10 minutes wait to see if you have bacteria in your throat. Try and chase up the results when you can as you really could end up needing an antibiotic. I had scarlet fever a week ago, I really sympathise with you, throat pain is unbearable. Try gargling with some lukewarm boiled water and salt, it helps ease the pain or an antiseptic throat spray from the chemist can help a little too.
