DH went to A&E a couple of hours ago, he cut his finger last week, and they have admitted him.

A thick piece of rotten wood went into his knuckle, he had to pull it out with his teeth, it has been swelling up since but he never bothers with doctors, but tonight he decided it was too painful to ignore, so went to A&E, and they x-rayed his finger, it is wriggling with infection along with splinters of wood, so they have admitted him, he needs to have ABs asap, so presumably that will be done with a drip.

Does'nt look like he will be out today, he is having an operation under general anesthetic later today, turns out he is years over due for his tenanus jab, so I suppose he is lucky they are not treating him for blood poisoning.

NannyL · 12/07/2007 19:21

I cut my hand (while strapping in a car seat) a TINY cut....

i was nearly admitted to hospital for IV antibitoics as well

i was given the strongest ABs the Dr coukd give me on monday and told to come back wed and if not better i would be straight to hosp.... it wasnt better but i then had until friday to get better, and on friday the nurse decided it looked a tiny bit better so they decided i didnt need to go to hospital.

Apparently if id have left it a few more hours before going to Dr i would have gone straigh to hospital

Oh and the pain was the most painful pain i recall experiancing in my entire life (bear in mind i have been run over after being hit by a car travelling at 50mph!)

dinny · 12/07/2007 19:22

ds just been given mega dose of antibios for infected toe....paranoid now!

hope your dh gets well soon!
