I have a diagnosis of a pinched nerve around my L5S1 - no disk issue.
Symptoms- numbness in baby toe area, lumpy feeling under foot, painful pins and needles and very sharp calf pain.
Occasionally a pain in my buttock, all on my right side.
Had a caudal epidural three weeks ago with little success.
Nov, Dec, Jan I was given several prescriptions with none of them hitting the pain. I got arcoxia, amitripaline, lyrica plus the usual pain relief codinex, tramadol etc
Came off the lyrica when I had the injections.
I’ve got kids at home so can’t be zonked from meds, need to drive.
Anyone got suggestions for effective meds I could take?
I’m getting very worn out/down from the pain.

Thanks

The hospital will tell you that paracetamol is actually the best painkiller and after many years (post surgery) I tend to agree but you have to take the full dose. I take ibuprofen with it and when I am in despair codeine. I already take amitriptaline for something else so no idea if it helps or not. If its not a disc something must be doing it - I'd try a physio if you can afford private otherwise its a longish wait. Good luck!
