Over active / hyper thyroid stories

I’m ill and suspect this may be the problem but my gp says it’s not so I’m waiting to see a consultant. Amongst other symptoms I cannot read, watch tv or use any screen without feeling nauseous and ill. Please tell me if you experienced this and how it was treated.

I have Graves which causes an overactive thyroid. Even when my symptoms were their worst I did not have any issue with reading or screens making me nauseous.

Has your GP actually checked your thyroid function?

Ive had both Graves and now hypothyroidism. Screens and reading were not a problem, although I can imagine you may have eye problems with exophthalmos which can be present in Graves Disease.

I had bulging eyes in my 20s with my over active Thyroid gland. I did not notice any sight difficulty or nausia but had lots of other very disturbing symptoms.
I was under the endocrine specialist at the hospital who treated me with Carbimazole and had 3 monthly consultations for 2 years. I assume it is the same for you, and you ought to confide in him/her about your worries.
Good luck

My gp has said blood tests showed it’s not my thyroid. I had a benign lump on my thyroid last year. I saw my consultant yesterday and he’s running more thorough tests but he doesn’t think it’s my thyroid either. I’ve been referred to see a neurologist in two weeks. It feels like such a long time to wait when I’m feeling this ill. I’m feeling very low. I dread nights because I can’t sleep properly and feel dizzy as though I’m drunk when I close my eyes.
