Bruises on calves - caused by lifting/exercise?

I have over the last couple of months started developing an excercise and lifting routine at the gym. DH advised me on which machines etc. to start with as he does lots of gym stuff.

My last workout was Sunday, leg wise I did deadlift (bar only), leg press, and leg curl. I also did 25-30 minutes on a "spin"-style stationary bike including standing on the pedals/off the seat.

Monday I noticed my left calf muscle was a bit sore (that's not weird for me though as I've got a bad left foot which sometimes causes my calf to twinge. Today when I was shaving my legs I noticed a large bruise on my right calf, right where the muscle meets the tendon. The left side has a smaller bruise.

I have no other pain, and my range of motion is normal.

Is this one of those things that just happened sometimes? DH had never heard of it.

I get all sorts of weird bruises, probably from the gym. I bruise easily and you pretty much just have to look at me for me to get a bruise. Mostly I have no idea where a bruise may have come from, unless I actually bang myself on a machine or weight (which has been known). You should have seen my wrists after starting kettlebell cleans. Maybe the leg curl machine pressed on your calf?

Leg curl machine hits way lower. I found this? www.livestrong.com/article/473298-bruised-calf-from-running/

I get lots of random bruises too, not sure I'd have cared, except for the symmetry!
