My DS has had diarrhoea for 2 days - it's completely watery and stinky. He is not on solids yet (formula fed since 3 mnths) and won't take any water. How many days until I see the doctor. He is fine in himself but I'm worried about dehydration - He is feeding well until just now when he refused his night feed. Sorry if this seems a bit minor I'm worrying!

Cover yourself and phone NHS direct. Is he still weeing?

Anyway, you're allowed to worry, you're his mum.

No he isn't weeing as usual. His nappy wasn't full this morning. Maybe I should ring NHS. Thank you by the way!

That's alright. Every new illness they get is a worry.

NHS may take a while, so if you're really worried, find out about your after hours surgery. They will be able to give you some practical advice.

Has he got a temperature?

I'm off to bed now, but let me know how you get on. x

If the NHS doesn't ring back tonight please take him to the doctor first thing in the morning. Young children's condition can deteriorate quite rapidly.

Have you tried giving him water with a spoon? If not, please do

Hope that helps

NHS Direct told me to see the doctor today which I did this morning and he didn't seem overly concerned. He said as he is well in himself and no temperature to see how he is over the next few days. The only thing he said about fluids was to water his formula down a bit, though he will still be getting less fluid anyway as he's only drinking about 1 3rd of his usual feeds (since this morning) so he must be feeling out of sorts just not showing it. So, I will see how he is over the next couple of days. Thanks again.

That's good to hear. I am sure he will be fine. Fingers crossed.
