***TMI*** Bright yellow diarrhoea

I've been feeling a bit ropy for a few days. I was unable to finish the long run I had planned on Sunday, and on Monday my stomach was really gurgley and I had really bad wind.

Yesterday at work I felt super nauseous and generally uncomfortable getting worse throughout the day, to the point where I didn't eat lunch and came home mid afternoon to go to bed. At about 6pm I vomited once; it was mostly clear/bile like fluid as I hadn't eaten anything since a bowl of granola at 7am. I wasn't sick again, and my temperature wasn't especially high, but my tummy still hurt and I felt generally unwell. I didn't have any loose bowel movements.

This morning I have felt super rough, tired, achy joints etc. I have been trying to get re-hydrated but I haven't eaten anything yet. I have just had a couple of bouts of diarrhoea that have concerned me a bit so I wan't to see if anyone knows what this might be. Up until now I thought I just had a bit of a bug but I've never seen anything like this.

Basically my diarrhoea was very watery liquid and absolutely bright yellow. It almost looked like yellow paint and hardly smelt at all. Does anyone have any clues as to what this might be, and do I need to be concerned? Normally I would just hole up in my bed until it passed but I m a bit worried about this. Thanks for your advice in advance.

I've had that sort of thing after antibiotics. I would give your go or 111 a call if you're not sure what to do.

Any abdominal pain? Problems urinating? Any pain when eating/30 mins after eating?

Update: I had a couple more bouts but then it seems to have resolved. I felt rough yesterday but much better today and have been able to eat some toast etc. Will be back at work tomorrow.

No pain at any point prior to this episode, no. No problems urinating although my wee was very dark yesterday due to dehydration. Back to normal now though!

I wonder if you may have had a gallstone that has now passed. The dark urine and yellow stool (though typically pale) and pain might indicate this. I would seek advice if it occurs again.

Both me and the kids have been similar this week. Very unsettled stomach and felt very bloated/gurgly. The kids were sick too and now we're all struck with the trots.

I took my 8 months old to the Gp because I was worried about the diarrhoea and he said there's a particularly nasty gastro bug going round at the moment. My friend and her kids have also been struck down by it.

We felt rough for s few days but pretty much back to normal now.

Thanks sproutsandparsnips. My instincts say it probably is/was just a weird bug but it's a really good idea to keep a look out for repeat episodes. GrumpySausage that sounds just like me although miraculously DP doesn't seem to have caught it. I feel much better now but my tummy is still very gurgley and a bit unsettled, and quite windy.
