Anyone care to diagnose me?

Backstory: In September 2018 I had hand foot and mouth, caught from one of toddler DD's NCT buddies. Obviously blisters etc everywhere, but most of them cleared after a week. My forefinger though hasn't cleared up yet. It's not HFM exactly, just very tender skin which feels like it's missing a layer, and lots of peeling (I don't touch it). It hurts to type with etc and feels rough to the touch. Moisturising it intensively didn't help.

I feel like a fool for bothering my GP about this, so... any ideas? And any miracle cures?

Thanks red. No other symptoms. We’ve got steroid cream at home so I might give that a go.

If you google, peeling fingers and toes seem to be fairly common after HFM. I wouldn't put steroid cream on it as that thins the skin and could make the problem worse.
Other causes of peeling fingers are certain types of eczema, kawasaki disease, scarlet fever... If you're otherwise well and pretty sure it was HFM you all had it's most likely that?
