Piriformis problems - help!!

Hello all.
I’m in absolutely agony with Piriformis Syndrome. My gp has given naproxen and I have four sessions booked in with an osteopath but it’s unbearable.
I went back to work today after having last week off and now I feel like I’m back to square one.
Has anyone got any tips for overcoming this or do I just have to be patient? I have so much on my to do lists and I’m stressing out!

You might have probably tried this but I used a massage ball and find it really affective - if you haven’t let me know and I will try and explain how I use it

Also massage - weekly if possible. Amazing relief

Oh no! I haven’t. Please tell me your secret! Thank you!

Oooh okay this will hopefully be life changing
Get yourself one of these:

Stand against the wall and sandwich the ball against your butt cheek and the wall
Move so that the ball is pressing into your butt in circles, moving the ball around to hit different spots - you’ll know it when you find it. It will hurt but be good hurt if you know what I mean

This one is also very good

(Watching will be better than me describing!)

I get immediate relief from this but then it comes back unless I roll morning and night for about ten minutes minimum
Don’t do it for too long the first time

My friend has serious ongoing pain in his neck / shoulder / spine. He's giving CBD oil a go. Nothing to lose. Acupuncture next on the list.

(This is after years of GP appointments.)

Yep, I have a sheet with exercises which will help (from expert physio, they're really good). PM me your email and I'll send it through

A sports massage therapist will be an expert at this. As your local running club to recommend you one.

Thank you all so much! Aberforthsgoat that’s really helpful. I will get along to our local decathlon.
Will it eventually go away or am I stuck with it?

Mine has never gone away properly and does flare up but for the most part it’s more of a twinge than the horrendous pain and discomfort it was previously
Good luck! I hope it works for you
