Mole trouble

I've had trouble with this mole since I was a teenager and my cat managed to put his claw through it it's always been raised but only by a millimetre or two

Recently its grown larger itches all day and now it's so raised it rubs on my bra strap

After a few months trying to get a drs appointment, you have to call at 8.30 wait in line on the phone and hope your lucky and always calling tok late due to work and it not being an emergency, iv finally got one for Friday with a nurse practitioner

I'm hoping they take the thing off but I suppose that would be day surgery

Has anyone had a mole removed? How long from referral to removal and could you work again the next day?

I had large one removed from my bellybutton under local anesthetic. Took about 10 minutes, certainly no missed work or after effects.

Why do you think it isn't an emergency?

SmallIslandLass · 04/03/2019 22:20

Our local hospital is in special measures the next one is an almost £100 trip away
I'm not bleeding out, having heart or breathing difficulties so not an emergency I wouldn't set foot in that place again unless my life depended on it

Iv just started a new job iv been very lucky to get so desperately dont want to miss work did you get it removed in hospital? How long were you in for?

I should have mentioned if I did get an emergency one it would likely be at the hospital

Removing a mole like that is a minor procedure. They wouldn’t do it there and then and it isn’t usually done by nurse practitioners.

Why do you think it isn't an emergency?

On what grounds would it be an emergency? It is an important thing to get checked though.

If you mention growing mole, that will normally make them fit you in quickly.

Have you been pregnant recently? That often makes moles go crazy.

A mole that's going crazy like that one would worry me. It probably isn't malignant but if it is, that's an emergency.
