Blood test results -b12, vit d etc

Hi all. I’ve recently had some blood tests due to headaches, twitching, pins and needles and some other random symptoms. As they came back in the normal range I’ve been referred to a neurologist. I’ve heard some say that the optimum ranges can vary from person to person so I’m just wondering if any of these results might be low enough to account for neurological symptoms (or if not and I should rule that option out). So if you have any experiences of these tests/ranges or have had symptoms while within the normal range I’d love to hear from you!

Results were-
Magnesium 0.9 (0.7-1) pretty sure that’s fine!
B12 375 (180-900)
Folate 5.5
Ferratin 41 (14-300)
Potassium 3.8 (3.5-5.3)
Vit d 56

Thank you :)

What is the normal range for magnesium

jinglebellmel · 03/03/2019 19:32

Hi wigglypiggly, 0.7-1.0 according to the print out from my gp- which is a shame as I was hoping a deficiency there might have explained the twitching, but it seems to be fine.

I'm sure I've read before that you want your B12 to be 400 or 500 minimum, and iron (ferritin) 50 minimum, even though the NHS limits are lower. Could be wrong but I'd be looking to increase those and if your doctor doesn't prescribe anything, then I'd go for a B12 spray (better absorbed than tablets) plus iron tablets (ferrous fumarate).

Thanks Heffalelephant. I’ve got some b12 tablets but will have a look for a spray.
