Anyone had problems with Levothyroxine?

I have been on 25mg Levothyroxine daily for under active thyroid for 9 months then following a check up my dose was doubled mid January. Soon afterwards I started to have stomach cramps and a funny taste in my mouth which has now got to the point where I have stomach ache all the time. No other symptoms, bladder and bowel normal, no loss of appetite, don't feel tired or unwell. It's just really uncomfortable and affecting what I can do.

Doctor has done blood tests and urine test and everything normal.
He is adamant it isn't thyroid or Levothyroxine related. Against his advice I dropped my dose back to 25mg a day and 3 days later my stomach feels so much better. Is this coincidence? Is it my imagination? Anyone else had stomach problems on this medication?

I take it every day on an empty stomach and it’s is fine .
I would die without it though .
Never heard of stomach problems related to it .

I take 125mg I meant to say with no issues

I’m on 175mcg and haven’t had any side effects at all

I have recently had stomach problems because I needed more of it - I have been increased to 200. It has a week half-life so unlikely major changes would be felt in three days. other autoimmune problems do go hand in hand with hypothyroidism so keep a symptom diary just in case something else is brewing that isn’t yet clear in blood tests.

Thanks all, back to doctors early next week so will see what they say. Am also waiting for an ultrasound. Was kind of hoping it might be something as simple as a reaction to medication.

Hmm. When I had undiagnosed Graves I had stomach problems for 3/4 years. Disappeared when thyroid was brought under control

Has your increase in dose pitched you over perhaps.
