ok I have been abroad and while I was abroad I developed an infection. I went to the dentist who gave me an xray and some antibiotics. I saw my own dentist who did not think the tooth was infected because it did not hurt so she thought I had a gum infection because the gum above the tooth was sore. Then she said I needed a thorough xray with a machine where you stand up and it goes all around your head so every aspect of your moth is xrayed. The they looked at the results and phoned me with what they found out. They said one of my other teeth has an infection. I was very shocked because I had no idea. It does not hurt and the last check up was fine so I asked how come I was given the all clear and I was told that you cannot pick up everything at a check up or even an xray but this 360 degree xray machine picks up everything. I said but the tooth you are now telling me has an infection does not even hurt and they said but it would hurt eventually and I said perhaps so but why would you not do a thorough check so that it never got to the stage where it started hurting. It was quite by chance that it was found out when I came to see about the other infection that started on holiday. Had the other infection not occurred on holiday then I would be left thinking that there was nothing wrong with my teeth and then as was pointed out to me this tooth infection that they discovered would have erupted because nobody had done anything about it because they had not checked my teeth properly to see that this was an issue. I am aghast to be honest. How can you trust a dentist like this?????? I have not had an apology or anything. Then I asked about the issue of the holiday tooth infection which is what I went about in the first place and the dentist said it can be left but the other tooth needs treating. My dentist is not convinced that the holiday infection is in the tooth but in the gum above the tooth because the tooth itself has never been painful. I was told on holiday that the tooth needs root canal and I have issues with that because my nerves cannot get numb enough for root anal so the holiday dentist said oh you do not need to have an injection because the tooth is dead so it wont hurt when the root canal is done. However my own dentist looked at the xray that I had taken when back home and she said what was that dentist talking about because your tooth is not dead.
I am utterly confused and do not know what to do next
