Hi Everyone,

We are looking to buy a mattress for our April Baby and I am a little unsure as to whether to plump for the £100+ breathable, layered type, whether to go for a firm mattress or whether to just go for a £30 option.

As its out first baby, I dont know where to start with this as the amount of options are vast. We are looking to have another baby (all being well) as soon as we can so will be happy to invest a little more for longevity; however, do you need a brand new mattress for each brand new baby?

Please help.

No idea. But interested in the responses you get as we will be getting all the bits soon for our first.

£30 option here. Didn't get a new one for each baby, but my first barely used the cot and was never sick or had a nappy leak on it so I wasn't concerned. I stripped off the waterproof cover and washed it though because the cat has been sleeping on it for a few years in between.

We got the mid price one from ikea, I think it was £45? But it was way to hard for her to sleep in after being in the snuzpod and my bed for months and months so I bought this mattress topper.

Definitely recommend!
She's asleep on it now 😊
