50s - my bones feeling stiff

I'm in my early 50s. Over the last six months, I've noticed when I sit down I feel stiff when I get up, first thing in the morning my ankles feeling stiff walking downstairs. All I've done today is the ironing, hoovering, talking to Tescos approx 20-25 mins round trip and an hour out in the garden tidying/sweeping it.

Anyone else get this? Anything I can do to help myself?

Thanks for your reply. This time last year, I wouldn't have needed to do any stretching. I think it's more in my bones anyway - I almost find myself hobbling along sometimes for a minute or two after I get up, sat up.

Second pp on stretches though- I do ones that are recommended for sciatica as I suffer from it intermittently and they really help

I have this too, and keep thinking about some sort of supplement maybe?? But I have my giant horsetablet multivits to finish first.

I always say my ankles do not wake up until an hour after I have got up!

Now, to be fair, I am overweight, and unfit but I have started C25K this year (again...but W8 next week!!) and I would say it has helped. I am noticing a weight loss, and although my knees and ankles are more achey, they do seem to be less stiff iyswim.

Also noticing a definite improvement in fitness, no more gasping for breath after the 5 minutes warm up...W7 is running for 25 minutes which seems laughable but I have done it!
