Hearing tests

Has anyone had a hearing test done through places like Boots, Specsavers etc? I have had concerns over my hearing for a few years now, so I really need to get my hearing tested. I know I could get a referral through my GP but getting an appointment is as rare as rocking horse poo, plus we can only discuss one health issue per appointment. I have an appointment booked a couple of weeks ago for this reason but I also need to see the GP over a more urgent matter this Monday.
I understand that going through Boots/Specsavers is going to cost £££ if I need hearing aids but I'd really appreciate any feedback about this please.

Hi I have just had my hearing test done at Boots and was very pleased with them.

Previously I had a test at Specsavers and was not impressed so didn't go ahead with them.

My hearing test proved I needed hearing aids - they are really expensive but I said there was no way I was going to pay £3,000 for them! I ended up getting a really good pair (behind the ear) - very small, for £975. Have been wearing them for the last few days and they make such a difference!

Thanks for your reply @Bruno1959. I had my hearing test done at Boots yesterday and my hearing is "borderline" so thankfully I don't need any hearing aids yet. I will be retested in 5 years time.

That's good! My hearing test showed I had a moderate hearing loss - fed up with my boss getting annoyed with me because I couldn't hear what he was saying!
