Prednisolone and blue steroid card

I'm currently taking prednisolone 5mg tablets on a reducing course. I've read the leaflet that comes with them and it says that if you are on them longer than three weeks you should have a blue steroid card?

I had them for a week at six a day, then 3 a day for ten days now I'm on 5 for a week, 4 for a week and so on. So I've already been taking them for nearly three weeks and got another 5 weeks to go. I've not heard anything mentioned about a steroid card.

Maybe it's just for high doses.

I got given one at the chemist when I collected the prescription

Pharmacist should have given you one.

Call the chemist. You should have one. When you need some random urgent treatment in six months time you'll have forgotten what dose you had and when!

TearingUpMyHeart · 24/02/2019 22:37

I wouldn't worry about it. Pick one up if you like next week from the pharmacist.

I was recently on pred for about 6 weeks and hadn't heard of the blue card so I've just googled it. According to the nhs website you should be given one if you're on them for 3 weeks or more, or on a high dose.

Was on a high dose for six months ,never given a card.

Thanks for the replies, I will ask next time I'm in the pharmacy.
