Rigid cystoscopy with a GA?

Hi!

So I’m booked in for a rigid cystoscopy with a general anaesthetic next week. I’m feeling a little nervous because I haven’t had a general anaesthetic before, and also I’m quite a private person and i’m worried about having so much exposed to the surgeons (I know this is a silly irrational thought because they see our lady bits all the time and I’ve given birth before in a room full of people!).

Anyone who’s had a cystoscopy with a GA, or even just a GA, I’d be so grateful for your experiences and if you could help me with some questions I forgot to ask at the hospital.

Will they put a breathing tube down into my throat? Does that hurt?
What did you remember when coming back round?
Did you experience much pain after?
Did they give you a good amount of time to recover in the hospital before discharging you home?
Did you go to work the next day?

Sorry for the questions, I’m just feeling anxious and I think it will help if I know what to expect. Thank you ❤️

Hi, I d just seen your post! How was your cystoscopy? I’ve got to go for one in a few weeks, under GA, like you just completely terrified. Can you tell me about your experience? x
