Hi all

So I am currently staying with my mum with my family as getting work done on my house. My builder came today and said he was sick all day yesterday, last night and early morning today with a runny tummy. He still went today and worked on my kitchen so spreading his gems everywhere! I was going to go around tomorrow to sort bits out and boxes etc. Should I stay clear and if so for how long?

Thanks

that is pretty irresponsible of him, with noro staff are always told not to go to work for 48hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting. I would be really angry if someone turned up at my house hours after having the squits. Noro can stay on hard surfaces for quite a while and it needs deep cleaning if he has noro, look it up on the NHS website, give him a copy and I would tell him not to come round. I would also expect him to pay for a deep clean if he does have noro.

I doubt he had noro if he was recovered enough to work the next day.

sandyk88 · 19/02/2019 20:34

I know- I am so upset- when I went to see him this morning he said oh my last bout was 2 hours ago! I don't understand why he didn't just stay at home. Yes been at the house for the rest of the day pretty much touching everything :(

How long do you think the germs (if any) will survive in surfaces etc? Gosh i can't think to bleach the whole house!!

Deff not Noro

Biancadelrioisback · 19/02/2019 20:38

The Germans won't survive for long, don't worry. Just make sure when you go round you wash your hands and dont lick the benches

Biancadelrioisback · 19/02/2019 20:39

Germs!!!! Not Germans. The Germans will* survive!

gamerchick · 19/02/2019 20:39

That doesnt sound like noro. Doesn't mean he didn't have a bug though. A good bleaching will sort that out.

Biancadelrioisback · 19/02/2019 20:39

Ah fuck. I give up

sandyk88 · 19/02/2019 20:43

Haha Bianca that made me giggle!

I think I might leave it a week and then go round to put the things back in the kitchen. Hoping that will be enough?

Oh I would be furious.

You’ll need to bleach. Sorry.

Anti bac doesn’t kill
Sick bugs. Get flash spray with bleach and use that to wipe switches, worktops, surfaces, door handles etc.

I wouldn’t be going back tomorrow and when I did go back I would be opening all windows and airing the house out for hours.

I would also be buying that Dettol spray too.

Definitely clean the toilet thoroughly. With bleach. Likelihood is that if you wasn’t there then he probably did a few shits today in there as well.

I know this sounds over the top but I have severe emetephobia and this would be a nightmare for me.

RedWineIsFabulous · 19/02/2019 22:24

I would stay away for a good few days. But that’s me.

sandyk88 · 19/02/2019 22:42

Thanks guys I'm just so annoyed with him!

I'm definitely going to stay away until next week and hopefully that'll reduce the contamination although I'm stressing myself out as I've read it can stay alive for weeks Sad

Oh well- I'll bleach everything when I go back in next week!

I would have sent him home!

Littletreasure2017 · 19/02/2019 22:51

I'd be fuming!! You should have told him to go home how selfish of him xxx

sandyk88 · 19/02/2019 22:54

I know I should have told him to go but he'd been there for about an hour when I got there so he'd pretty much done the damage... I'd rather have him work seen as he already spread everything anyway Sad
