hi. so yeah i'm not a parent and i'm on this site, but as you can see by the title i have a teeny tiny problemo. i have this lump on my labia majora and i'm kinda scared? i thought it was like an ingrown hair at first but it's too hard and lumpy. after snooping around online i'm pretty sure it's a cyst. does anyone know how to treat it? i'm not close to my mom so i don't really wanna tell her yet, can someone please tell me if i can get rid of it without going to a doctor asap? please and thank you.

Sounds like a batholins cyst - they are harmless but obviously get it checked out to be sure

It probably is a cyst, and nothing to worry about, but no one on the internet can be sure of that, so you probably should go to the doctor if you've not had this before and it's worrying you (which clearly it is.) Try not to be embarrassed - it's nothing they won't have seen before, and it's probably far preferable to some of the things they'll have seen! At my surgery, you can request a female doctor, which would probably be easier for you.

Self-treatment is try not to poke it too much, as you don't really want to get an infection there. If there's no discomfort, probably just leave it alone is best. If it's somewhere your knicker elastic could rub it, that might irritate it, and if you get inflammation and redness, that is something to get looked at.

Try not to worry - which I know is easier said than done!

Also, get some sleep, so you don't get run-down - I am more prone to cysts and infection when I get run-down (and no, I am not practising what I preach!)
