Sorry, I don't know but worth a trip to the gp?

lilolilmanchester · 04/07/2007 23:34

Apu, think you should defo go to GP to rule out thyroid etc. I have to be honest tho, my weight has crept up gradually since I was 40. I reckon partly because your metabolism does change as you get older and partly because I'm not running around after little children anymore, up and down stairs all the time. Might be something similar with you, but I'd still suggest a visit to the GP. it's scaring you - so trust your gut instinct that something might be wrong, and hopefully they'll be able to put your mind at rest.

Pregnancy?

ScummyMummy · 04/07/2007 23:36

Could your metabolism be slowing down a bit? I think you should go to the GP too- hopefully for reassurance.

was on ad's for 9 months until 3 months ago and have just googled it and found a link with thyroid function so now am really stressing

Thyroid stuff here - mentions constipation

Tinker · 04/07/2007 23:39

Think it's very treatable if caught early.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 04/07/2007 23:39

Thyroid problems are usually very easily treated Apu, don't panic

ApuNahasapeemapetilon · 05/07/2007 00:27

anyone else experience this themselves...?

Thyroid?
pregnancy? (I had my last baby at 42 - still in shock)
perimenopausal?
I am now 51 and have piled on the weight in the last year, in spite of being busier than ever - I think it is age. It is depressing, but I just don't have the will power to do anything about it, though if it continues I will have to. I have never had a weight problem in my life before.

ApuNahasapeemapetilon · 05/07/2007 11:06

been to gp having bloods
will be teribly embarrassed if i is nothing
3littlefrogs - i know it is natures way to put weight on as you get older but at 39 to suddenly gain a stone and a half?? i do not want to believe that

well done for going to GP. Don't be embarrassed if it's nothing, you have to take these sort of symptoms seriously. Hope all goes ok.

ApuNahasapeemapetilon · 05/07/2007 23:35
