Duplicate medical tests

I am a renal patient at our local hospital and had a full blood test done on 1st February. The results went to the hospital but not to my GP. Now I have had an automated text from the GP asking me to make an appointment for a blood test. I went to the surgery and explained to the receptionist that I have only just had this done. The receptionist was adamant that I still needed to do a blood test at the GP surgery as it is "they who issue the medications." I am concerned that my GP and the hospital do not appear to be communicating with each other. I asked the receptionist at the GP if she could ask the hospital for my blood test results and she said she couldn't!!
The NHS is supposed to be short of money - why would they want to duplicate tests like this?

Silly isn't it..... I've been sent from
GP to A&E to hospital outpatients..... all have repeated same blood tests and other examinations within days of each other.

Contact the renal department at the hospital and ask them to send the test results to your GP. They can do this electronically.

Fellow renal patient here! They definitely don't communicate... my GP never has my bloods, and looking at my last clinic letter they only have a very brief overview (basically just my GFR).

However I can see al my blood results on the hospitals portal - the GP is happy for me to print those off and give them to her. Suggest that as it'll save you from having to get more bloods done (and help you look after your veins).

This happens to me all the time. The hospital can't see GP tests and vice versa so they both make me have the same tests twice so that they both have the results on the system.

I've even taken copies of the results in bit that isn't acceptable.

Must cost the NHS a fortune to duplicate all of these tests.
