So, have I broken a bone in my foot....

...or what?

It's been hurting for nearly 2 weeks now and I have no idea how I did it.

It's very tender along one of the bones along the top above my middle toe and painful to walk on.

I know I should have had it checked out but the 2 times I have been to A & E there have been many, many people waiting and ambulances pulling up outside, I'd have been there hours!!

Think I'll pop down in the morning though.

do you have a local minor injuries unit? They'll be much less busy. Hope it's better soon.

I don't think so but will try to find out. Can't go tonight anyway as small people in bed and DH away. I will have to suffer a little longer

Can you go to A and E so much later than the injury ?

Rumpel · 04/07/2007 19:45

You might get a stooky! I broke mine many moons ago - or rather a very drunk bloke in a nighclub did when he trod on my foot (I had Docs on too so he must have been a heavy sod). Didnt realise until 3 days later - hospital x rayed and twas broken - stooky for 8 weeks! Take arnica pillules - 6c and gently massage it daily.

I assume so, I don't know what else to do. Not much point in seeing the doctor, they would just send me to A& E anyway.

SquirdleAKACandDsmummy · 04/07/2007 19:48

Whats a stooky? Is it something I'm not gonna like?

Rumpel · 04/07/2007 19:49

A cast! From your foot to your mid calf.

SquirdleAKACandDsmummy · 04/07/2007 19:52

Oh that'll be fun Can you drive with one of them?

SquirdleAKACandDsmummy · 04/07/2007 19:53

I'm guessing no! Just before Summer holidays, oh joy!

SquirdleAKACandDsmummy · 04/07/2007 19:54

Could you walk on your foot before you knew it was broken? Cos I can, it just bloody hurts!

suey2 · 04/07/2007 19:55

sounds like you may have a march fracture which is a stress fracture of one of the long bones of the foot. Often they don't cast and in fact many don't show up on xray until at least 2 weeks after the initial onset of pain. Your gp can refer for an xray if you do not wait to wait in A&E.

SquirdleAKACandDsmummy · 04/07/2007 19:58

Yes it is one of the long bones. Thanks Sue, you have given me hope! Shall try A & E in the morning and if no joy will see the doctor.

Rumpel · 04/07/2007 20:11

yes could walk on it - it was purple and swollen and broke clean through. You will not be able to drive! If they give you a stooky you will get a plastic bit sticking out the bottom of the stooky to walk on.

SquirdleAKACandDsmummy · 04/07/2007 20:20

Nooooo, I need to drive!

Isn't purple, but is a little swollen.

Rumpel · 06/07/2007 21:04

How did you get on at the Docs?
