Vagina soreness getting me down :-(

Dickorydockwhatthe · 12/02/2019 22:17

Every month I seem to get an increase in vaginal discharge which is very watery causing the outer skin of my vagina to become sore and itchy where the creases are near the buttocks. I am also finding my vulva/clit area feels itchy and sore and it smells. It jusy feels really irritated and im so embarrassed becuase I can smell it so worry others can to. I‘ve used and thrush creme which soothes it but it just feels strange down there. Since I had a antibiotics for a urine infection 8mths ago its never been the same and its getting me down 😞

Are you perimenopausal? I have hrt cream for this and it helps

justasking111 · 12/02/2019 22:20

You need to see a GP

ozymandiusking · 12/02/2019 22:25

I think you need to see your G.P. If you have an infection you may need different cream. I don't think being perimenopausal necessarily gives you a smelly discharge. I don't know how you have managed to put up with it for so long.

Bacterial vaginosis? It can come and go.

There's a duo test available in supermarkets that tests for BV and thrush.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 12/02/2019 22:27

Oh god I am 38 so could be 😞. It seems silly but I also have the coil and feel like it’s slightly irritated too, although I am not itchy internally. I feel too embarrassed to go to the doctors 😞

Personally I would go to a GUM clinic than a GP. It's their area, they're very thorough and will be able to help you a lot quicker.

TheMuteMoose · 12/02/2019 22:29

Try a course of BV gel. Bacterial vaginosis has similar symptoms to thrush.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 12/02/2019 22:30

I think because it comes and goes, it always feels worse during my cycle when the discharge is really watery.

Did you try a tablet for thrush or just the cream?

Dickorydockwhatthe · 12/02/2019 22:31

Will the BV gel work alone or will I need antibiotics?? I will look at getting a test

Cream as it feels external

No it works alone. Just squeeze a tube up there at bedtime for 7 days.

Wear a pad though as it comes out and can get irritating during the night.

TearingUpMyHeart · 12/02/2019 22:39

The tablet is better. Cream never shifted it with me.

You could speak to the pharmacist if that is easier? Or buy that test for bv/thrush over the counter first to see if it is either thrush.or bv. You sound a bit young for peri. I am mid 40s. I kept thinking I had thrush but it turned out to be peri stuff instead.

Cherylshaw · 12/02/2019 22:51

lichen sclerosus? I have this and it sounds very similar, definitely go to your doctor I wouldn't be trying different creams etc untill you know what it is, in my case doing that made it more painful

myidentitymycrisis · 12/02/2019 22:58

If it smells fishy it may be BV. I was prone to this and it was often hormonal changes ie periods that triggered it. Alway treated with a strong anti biotic. Menopausal now and haven’t had it since then.

Mscandylamb · 12/02/2019 23:03

Sounds similiar to me. I have a itchy vagina on/off especially now that im pregnant. In my early pregnancy I tested positive for thrush, bv and a urine infection so was handed a load of tablets to take which soon cleared things up but I have been told that thrush and bv can come and go... Its embaressing as im 37 weeks pregnant and cant imagine giving birth with a fishy smelling vagina. Best wishes and Hope you can find some sort of resolution.

endofthelinefinally · 12/02/2019 23:13

You might have an infection situated around the strings of the coil.

donajimena · 12/02/2019 23:15

I had bastard Bv with my coil in situ.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 13/02/2019 18:28

Oh really my coil is over due but ive been putting off having it taken out 😞
