Kidney infection

I was diagnosed with a suspected kidney infection on Tuesday. Been on strong antibiotics, 3 times a day and my last day is tomorrow. I don't feel any better, I'm still in lots of pain, sweats and chills at night, weeing lots, generally feel unwell.
I'm going back to GP tomorrow but I'm worried they might send me into hospital as when I was diagnosed they mentioned admission and IV antibiotics. I really don't want to have to go in, I hate hospitals!
Any experience? I've never had one before so not sure when I'm supposed to be feeling better!!

I would say you should be feeling better by now, and you need to go back to the GP tomorrow. They can't force you into hospital, but if you choose to ignore their advice be it on your own head.

(For context: a good friend of mine turned down medication after a TIA that had affected her eyesight temporarily. She then had a stroke and now at 53 is blind in one eye. It is very likely that stroke could have been avoided if she'd taken the medication as advised.)

I have kidney problems and have been hospitalised several times. Its a horrible thought but it may be the only way its going to get better. It took 10 days of IV antibiotics before i was better.

On the other hand ive also been prescribed anti biotics from my GP on occasions and one course hasnt been enough. They may prescribe you a second longer course

One way or another you need to see your GP. You need some sort of treatment

I will go back tomorrow, thanks for your replies. I'm just fed up with being ill, it's been one thing after another at the moment!

I suffered a lot, when I was younger, with kidney infections. I know you hate hospitals but if you go in for an IV you'll feel massively better after 24h. It makes such a difference. They shouldn't keep you in long. You should definitely be feeling almost better by now if the antibiotics were working.
