Could I have measles?

I’m currently on holiday in Europe and have been sick for the last week. It didn’t start with the usual cold symptoms although I did have a sore throat and headache but I came down with what I thought was a cold a week later.

I was running a fairly high fever (shivery, couldn’t get warm) but this isn’t that unusual when I get a bad cold.

Then the itchy rash (or bites) started. At first I thought it was bedbugs but I did a very thorough check of the hotel room and found no evidence.

I’m currently in France but am due to fly back to Australia in two days. Obviously I have a GP to see in France. Not sure if I’m overreacting but pretty sure the airline won’t want me on their long haul flight if still contagious.

I did get vaccinated as a small child but I know it’s not always 100% effective.

Oh and I just found a news report about a current measles report at a French ski resort I’ve just been to.

Only a doctor can tell you, not randoms on the internet who haven't examined you!

That is true Furry

Think I might find a nearby pharmacist that speaks English and get some advice.

So I found probably the only pharmacy open in central Lyon on Sunday and got some advice.

The pharmacist didn’t think it ismeasles or bedbugs (I didn’t mention measles) but is some kind of allergic rash and gave me some antihistimne tablets and a corticosteroid cream. Very impressed with the service Smile

I had measles at 12 and for most of that time I couldn't see properly, let alone get out of bed. Was quite scary. Hopefully you don't have it OP, sounds unlikely x
