Contraceptive implant insertion pain

I had my contraceptive implant replaced on Monday, (4 days ago) I took the bandage of Wednesday as instructed by the nurse. The wound has 6 steri strips in a star pattern and a thick scab about the size of a 5p in the middle, all clean. But the pain has been awful since I took the bandage off, not constant but keep getting sudden sharp shooting stabbing pains that take my breath away, especially when I move my arm alot. I had no pain with the bandage on, and it wasn't like this when I had my first one put in, just a dull ache and bruising. I can wiggle the implant without pain, so I'm assuming it's the scab pulling when I move my arm. Someone tell me it's normal and will go? I'm taking ibuprofen to ease things. Also do I let the steri strips fall off in their own time? Thanks.

I had the exact same with my second implant, was fine most of the time then sharp agonising pains. Mine disappeared after a few weeks and no problems since then.

iwillruniwillfly thanks, that's reassuring to hear. It has been a little less painful today, so hoping it's finally healing.
