Does anyone else have a doorbell dream?

Every now and then I am woken in the middle of the night by the doorbell. Clear as anything. No one is there and I've concluded that it's just me dreaming.

It happened again last night and I got up to check. What's weird is that we've moved since the last time it happened and the ring was exactly the ring of this new house, so my dream is pretty accurate! We're not anywhere where there's passing pedestrians so really unlikely to be someone mucking about.

Is it just me, or has anyone else had this?

Me!

Regularly

Merchantgirl · 07/02/2019 07:51

Are you sure it’s not the battery going? I’ve had this happen s couple of times where the bell rang in the middle of the night but it was either the battery going or the doorbell starting to deteriorate

Hemlock2013 · 07/02/2019 07:52

I’ve had this once, really clear doorbell that wakes me up but no one is there and my dp who is a lighter sleeper swears it hasn’t happened. Strange!

RB68 · 07/02/2019 07:54

Another one here - am sure my dog does as well - lol she often jumps up and barks when she has been fast asleep 2 mins earlier, as if there is someone at the door

Karwomannghia · 07/02/2019 07:55

Yes and knocks on the door, someone shouting my name etc. I can usually tell when I’ve woken that it was a dream. I also have the flashes of light dropping off, explosions and falling etc

ModernStoneAgeFamily · 07/02/2019 07:57

Yes me too !

Karwomannghia · 07/02/2019 07:57

And wrt accuracy in dreams, in some I’m actually quite impressed how my brain has figured something out with no conscious input from me.

TheShiteRunner · 07/02/2019 08:00

Yes, door knocking/banging, and sometimes one of the children calling for me.

gingercat02 · 07/02/2019 08:03

I do and we don't have a door bell in this house

jackstini · 07/02/2019 08:04

Yes! So glad it's not just me
It's definitely our doorbell noise and it's really clear

tiredandgrumpy · 07/02/2019 09:13

Yay! So glad I'm not the only one going mad. I did take in a couple of deliveries for a neighbour yesterday which they haven't yet collected (I know they're in), so maybe that was playing on my mind.

I have them sometimes. I had them a lot when our doorbell did go in the night because our neighbour was dealing drugs and his clientele would come to us instead of him a few times a week. I’d be woken at least once more during the week with phantom doorbells. They happen much less now he’s gone but I still get them occasionally.

There’s a sleep disorder where you hear loud noises just as you drop off, isn’t there? I wonder if it’s related to that too.

whilethechiefputsshineonleith · 07/02/2019 09:23

i do it with the kids shouting mum!! iv jumped up on many an occasion due to this. worst was 3 weeks ago kids were at grans for an overnight and i hearrd my ds screaming mum help at the top of his lungs dived out of bed and into his room to find an empty bed. had a split second of sheer painc till i remembered he was at his grans. it was terrifying x

Aged ten, I was on a school residential trip, and found out there was a very loud fire alarm actually in our dormitory, and we had a fire drill during the day, so I knew exactly what it sounded like. For weeks I had dreams about it going off at night!

And some years later, this was a reality a few times at my university hall of residence.

Melky · 18/03/2022 10:23

Old post but it happens to me and I had to go outside and check. But nobody else in the house hears it neither my dog. Its weird. I swear it sounds just like my doorbell. 3AM. Im still sitting here wondering because its so clear. Third time in the last couple of years.

Bamaluz · 18/03/2022 10:41

I used to, I have disconnected my doorbell now because it got so bad.
I'm a childminder and would wake in a panic that a family was arriving and I wasn't up and dressed.
I don't have dreams about the door knocking though.

Chamomileteaplease · 18/03/2022 10:45

Me too. Glad and sad that there are others out there Smile.

I think it's rather strange Confused . You can see why it would happen if you are worried about a visitor or had actual people ringing in the night like a PP, but the rest of us? The brain is a very intriguing organ Smile.
