Anyone been diagnosed with a heart defect after bundle branch block on ecg?

So after a few months having my palpitations investigated I saw a consultant cardiologist yesterday (who I thought would just sign me off and say all good) but has sent me for an echo... he has seen a partial right bundle branch block pattern on my ecg and said it could be a congenital heart defect that was missed at birth!

Anyone with any experience??

Hey
I'm a cardiology nurse. Partial or full right bundle branch block can be a completely normal finding on an ECG.
It's probably unrelated to your palpitations and certainly doesn't mean that you definitely have an undiagnosed heart defect. I'm sorry your Gp has scared you like this.
Try not to worry too much and It sounds like your going to get your palpitations investigated which is reassuring.

Sorry I've just seen it was a cardiologist you saw!
RBBB can be a normal finding on an ECG. However if someone is having palpitations then it's sensible to do an ECHO as if they have a structurally normal heart then it's very reassuring. If you do have an undetected heart defect then try not to worry as they will be able to sort it out for you. I'm work in cardiology but have just been diagnosed with a defect myself, I'm having a small op in a few weeks to sort it out. Try not to worry too much, you will be in good hands. Hope your scan goes well, wishing you all the best.
