My mum had bad disc problems and I think she had to have an op for them in her 30s. I had an MRI for something unrelated about 10 years ago and it was mentioned I had signs of a dodgy disc in the lumbar area, and should be careful with lifting technique and that sort of thing. I'm in my early 40s now. Over the past year or so I have been getting more stiffness and pain in my lower back. Sometimes it takes me a minute or two to straighten up properly when I stand up and walk about, and before I can, I walk about slightly bent over at an angle like some old people do. I sometimes get pain and stiffness from lying on my side and it takes a bit of effort to turn over, which is uncomfortable, but the pain stops once I am on my back again.
I'm guessing there are probably exercises to help this sort of thing and to stop it getting worse. Does anyone have experience of these?
