Periods a week earlier perimenopause?

I'm 44, will be 45 in the summer and for the last two cycles I've been 17/18 days.
For the past year or two they have been 21-25 with most of them being around the 23-24 mark. I've also had about one wonky cycle of 19/20 a year for the past two years.
They shortened a bit in my 30s and were 24-29 days long.
I know all of this because I've been in the habit of charting them because we had to have two rounds of ICSI.
Last month when it happened I called the Doctor in a panic and they said over the phone it was most likely my age but if continued to go in.
I've had PMT much earlier and far worse too and am quite crabby too and headachy.
Just looking for similar experiences to put my mind at rest a bit.
I will go to the Dr if it continues which is probably likely.

Very common in perimenopause. I was also v regular 28 days. Now vary from 19-55.
It’s worth getting a blood test because more regular (and often heavier) bleeding can lead to anaemia.

That should have said ‘more frequent’

Thanks dahliaaa, that's reassuring to know.
I was very anaemic before so am keen to get that checked. He said to leave it a month or two before going because they want to check my hormone levels.
In the meantime I take a natural iron supplement.

Hi

Oooo, interesting!

Im 46 and my periods have gone crazy - ranging from 21 days to 68 days!

One GP said it could be my age and one said Im not in peri. No blood tests as they are not accurate and hormones change daily.

I must say since my periods have gone odd, Im having breast pain - like Im pregnant. Hormones, I suppose.

x

Yes, me too. They've been really sore and like you said. I've just started an Omega 3 supplement to see if that helps.
I've also been looking into the magnets today but not sure yet.
I don't have sweats as such but the PMT is through the roof and I feel crappy most of the time these days.
I had one Dr telling me I'm not peri either a couple of years ago and that they wouldn't check my hormones anyway because it wouldn't be accurate when they are changing so much and yet the GP a couple of weeks ago said they would check them. I guess they all have different ideas.
I remember about 3 years ago mentioning the pain I get at the left side and was sent to gynaecology and they offered a coil (had one before and bled for over 10 months), injections, microwave ablation or hysterectomy. I said no to all at the time and was given ponstan and Transexamic Acid for the pain/bleeding. I also had an endometrial biopsy that day that came back fine and my smear is up to date.
