Hashimoto's thyroiditis

I've just been diagnosed with Hashimoto's. For the longest time, they thought my symptoms were caused by my heart condition but they've finally (hopefully) properly diagnosed me after six years.
They have asked me to go back to the doctors to talk about how to treat it. Does anyone have any experience of this and how it can be treated? Do you feel a lot better now or is it something that still affects your life?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
there is an autoimmune board for us.
I've been diagnosed years ago and last week my GP put me on a slightly higher dose of L-thyroid. They also check my Vit D and B levels, my iron and selene, as deficiencies in these often accompany this condition.
I need to have an eye on my blood pressure and stress levels.
Make sure they always check all markers, not only the obvious.

And and after I was properly medicated all those niggles - tiredness, lack of concentration, mental fog, pain in my muscles, racing heart etc. vanished one after the other.
