Spatone - anyone have problems with it?

I was advised to take Spatone before Christmas. The next day after first dose my gut was really noisy, and things just got worse. After 4 weeks of excess gas, constant noisy gut and then diarrhoea I stopped taking it. Things haven’t gone back to normal even after 3 weeks - just worse. Now only passing gas and mucus (sorry) nothing else. How can I reverse what it’s done? Anyone else had this type of reaction?

Do you have a gastro condition?

No I've been taking it for about 3 months. I think it's helpful. What do you take it with?

I have it in orange juice whilst eating breakfast cereal.

Spa tone is just an iron supplement. I suspect whatever is happening in your GI tract is unrelated to it.
Poss coeliac, IBS etc

Iron is intolerable to people with gastro conditions, though - for instance DD has ulcerative colitis and it would be a nightmare for her to have to take.

I get very painful cramps and diarrhoea from iron supplements. When I tried spatone I could just about tolerate one sachet a day but when I took two it made me ill. I recovered pretty quickly after stopping it though, seems a bit odd that you're still suffering after all this time.

Might be worth seeing a gp - maybe it's exacerbated some underlying problem?

GP appointment needed. I don’t think is Spatone, but something else as others have mentioned.

Spatone doesn’t give me problems. Iron supplements generally make you feel constipated rather than diarrhoea.

It started the day after the first sachet of Spatone, so it seems a massive coincidence as nothing else changed to set it off. Have no other conditions that I am aware of, apart from being on warfarin lifelong. Really scared now. 😟
