Hello, I'm looking for some advice.
I have found out today that my baby's fathers girlfriend is in hospital being treated for bacterial meningitis. Me and the baby were with ex yesterday.
Should I take my kids to the doctors and explain the situation or is it unlikely that ex could have "carried" it to us?
I am a total worrier and I just wanna make sure my kids will be fine.
Thanks.

Hi OP, what strain of meningitis is it? If it's meningitis B you may be able to have your baby vaccinated. Please call OOH for advice today x

I think they do give prophylaxis to close contacts with bacterial meningitis.
I would also contact OOH for advice Flowers

I had bacterial meningitis caused by strep B a couple of years ago and had a 2yr at home. Ds abs dh did not have any treatment. If your worried it would be worth talking to a dr about it.
My understanding of the meningitis I had was that for what ever reason my body didn’t fight off the Strep b virus (causues sire throats etc) and the bacteria passed through in to the mengies, so for mine i could have infected them with the step b but in the majority of people this would not lead to meningitis. I couldn’t have passed the meningitis on. Hope that makes sense
