Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding - starting up again after tests - asking for a scan

Hi, I experienced DUB for a month over the Christmas/New Year period which at times got really heavy. First time it has ever happened to me. I am 48 years old. Managed to get a GP appt on January 22nd and she immediately referred me for bloods, smear test and pelvic/transvaginal ultrasound.

I was tested for ovarian cancer markers, FSH level, thyroid, sugar levels, FBC etc.

The TV scan and pelvic scan were normal as are the bloods. My FSH level is 7.2. The smear has gone AWOL at the lab so they are chasing that up but the thing is that I have started spotting again after a few days of no bleeding. Do you think I might need to ask for a scan at my next GP appt which is on the 7th Feb?

I wouldn't ask for one - I'd put it in firm tones that you require referral! Nicely of course

Consider fibroids. And also periods generally go haywire but if it's unusual for you then you need a scan ASAP so you know what it is

Hi Megabat, thanks for responding. I don't want to come across as a pushy patient who has scared herself stupid using Dr.Google but as the TV u/s and pelvic u/s came back normal as have bloods, I do think it needs further investigation as this defo isn't normal for me. Also due to the FSH level, I am assuming that I am nowhere near perimenopausal at the mo. I did think that fibroids/polyps etc would show up on a pelvic and TV ultrasound? Something definitely isn't right as the spotting has now gone from dark, oxidised smear on panty liner to looking lighter in colour so bleeding from somewhere..
