I am really struggling, and while I've been to the doctor I'd really appreciate any wisdom you can offer!
I've been struggling with a flu type bug. High temperatures, epically snotty nose. It's the cough that's destroying me - it was really violent for a few days, made me throw up all night. Then backed off a bit, then two days of coughing up yellow phlegm. Now my night is going:
- sit in upright chair
- fall asleep
- wake up feeling choking, gasping for air
- hacking cough from top of throat
- either, get it under control or throw up
The tight feeling at the back/top of my throat is like nothing I've known before, it's like my throat closes up entirely. When I'm awake I can use water and cough sweets to hold it up, but the night wakings are frankly terrifying.
Doctor has sent me away with a prescription for antibiotics, and instructions to return for steroids in 3 days if no better. I have very mild asthma.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm looking after my little boy in hospital at the moment, so self care options are limited.
