Anyone else waiting for beast clinic ?

Saw GP yesterday. He could feel patch (more like a line ?) of v lumpy tissue that I had found so has referred under 2WW.

I’ve had cysts before but this is in upper outer quadrant of right breast which I know is common for BC so I’m more nervous.

I can’t remember how quickly within the two weeks I’ve been seen before so just waiting.

DH has a non cureable but currently treatable cancer so I get particularly edgy about it.

Hello. Well not waiting but was seen last Wednesday.

I felt a lump 11 days prior - on a Saturday evening. There followed a distressing night until 5am - crying and panicking etc. All set to go private

I called my doctor on the Monday and she saw me that afternoon. Had a feel and she told me she wasn't worried, said it felt like a fibroadenoma to her but she'd have to refer me regardless

I was lucky enough to get an appointment for the following Wednesday - so a wait of 11 days from finding the lump

I know how horrible it is and how it just lurks away in the back of your mind. I was pretty down about it all tbh but trying to be 'sensible'

In and out the clinic in an hour and a half. Mammogram and ultrasound and it's ... nothing. A normal pronounced lobule - whatever that is. I've never felt it before! So it's still there but it's just a nothing. Normal

Remember - 9 out of 10 women they see don't have cancer. The odds are entirely in our favour here

Me, I’m waiting - no lump as such but really painful breasts for about 6 weeks. Been waiting about a week for my referral

Notever · 29/01/2019 21:18

Im going tomorrow. I couldn't feel a lump but went to GP yesterday with painful, heavy left breast. There was also a spot that was more painful to the touch.
He examined me and said he could feel a lump and would refer me. I'm absolutely shitting myself. Not much help I know, I'm afraid.
I just hope I get good news tomorrow.
I've gone private as couldn't bear to wait even a week.

pepperjack · 29/01/2019 21:20

I just moved house and can't get appt with Gp until I register, then see the nurse, then it depends how long it takes to 'put me in the computer'
No joke
Where do I find out about going private? I've googled, getting nowhere

danni0509 · 29/01/2019 21:24

I waited 13 days last year, they tried to make me wait 22 until I complained that I'd been referred as urgent and to be seen within the 14 days.

All was well though, thank god.

MegaBat · 29/01/2019 21:52

@pepperjack I looked at going to Nuffield so google them. Or try Spire or Bupa

However - I initially booked a private clinic appointment for the same week I found the lump. It was £220. Great I thought! That's ok

Apart from that's JUST to be seen - just like your normal doctor will see you. It's then £220 for the mammogram, £250 for the ultrasound, between £180-800 for any biopsies etc

So that initial £220 was suddenly not

My advice would be to see your gp and ask them if they're able to give any reassurance. Mine was brilliant, she explained that smooth, non tethered lumps that can be slightly moved are usually just fine. Google fibroadenoma and see if that fits at all?

And OF COURSE all other types of lumps are usually just fine too

I get the panic. I was really very distressed

MegaBat · 29/01/2019 21:53

Sorry I somehow missed the no GP thing. Try private if you have it or can pay readily (I was prepared to for the peace of mind) or really push your nearest practise to fit you in

dahliaaa · 29/01/2019 22:00

pepperjack contact the nearest surgery and explain that you don’t have a registered surgery yet but that you are concerned about breast pump. They should advise you what to do.

Thank you everyone for the messages. Glad some of you have already had good news Smile.

I’m going to try and keep as busy as possible otherwise I know I’ll just obsessively keep feeling the area and waiting for appointment to come through.

Notever hope all goes ok for you tomorrow.

Yeah I came out crying after I went in to register.
Other surgery isn't taking new patients.
I think I've found a screening place, will call them in the morning

dahliaaa · 30/01/2019 00:07

Hope you get something sorted tomorrow Pepper
