Cold sore and face numbness

Hello!
I'm seven and a half weeks pregnant, and the past few days I've had a cluster of three cold sores. I've been rotating using salt water and peppermint oil on it. They've already blistered and i think are starting to dry up.
But since last night, the whole right side of my face has been kind of tingling and numb and now i have pain in my eye.
Is this normal?

I've read that the cold sore virus lies dormant in the trigeminal nerve, which enervates the face, whilst it's not active, and there are some theories that it's linked with trigeminal neuralgia, but I don't think anything is proven. If you Google it there are articles about the possible link. I have cold sores and facial numbness but no one has ever got to the bottom of it despite various scans.

Probably worth seeing your GP if it doesn't settle down.

I don't know about normal but I have had this a number of times in recent years. I have had cold sores since I was a child and this didn't used to happen. I have had neuralgia issues for the last 4-5 years and timing always coincides with a cold sore attack (often multiple or more severe) I'm in my 40s now.

I would go to your gp to get checked out. I have had medication.
