X-ray results take 7-10 days !?

I have had problems with my foot for awhile after a accident I had. Last Saturday when I stood up sharp pain went through and since it had been swollen and very sore. I went to see gp this morning and he doesn't think it is fractured but sent me to X-ray just in case. I have appointment with podiatrist in one months time so I just wanted to know that it isn't broken.

Well I had the X-ray taken but was told it takes 7-10 days to get results. I have broken bone previously and got results straight away after X-ray (in different country). Ds broke his arm here in UK and got results straight away too.

I have to have an X-ray recently for a suspected broken arm, they looked at it and couldn’t see a break, also advised me it is reviewed a second time within about a week as a secondary check, could it be similar?

The technician took couple of X-rays and sent me away saying results will be sent to gp in 7-10 days time.

A&E or in hospital patient X ray - person requesting will look at it and give you an answer - it will then be checked by a radiologist (Doctor who specialises in looking at X rays and other images) which will take a few days and you probably won't know about.
GP requesting X ray - GPs don't get the images (depending on location and computer system), just the report from a radiologist, so they can't look at it themselves. That's the taking days bit (it often takes days in hospital for the official report, but you're not waiting for the report as someone else has looked at it themselves).
Technicians take images, they don't read them unless something is very obvious.
So yes your outpatient X ray result seems reasonable to me.

Thank you for the explanation.

Maybe I should have gone to minor injuries instead to get results faster?
